The Heritage Christian University is located in Florence, Alabama. It was organized in 1971 as an International Bible College offering a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible. It started out with just 9 students and since then has grown to about 200 undergraduate students and about 45 graduate students from across the nation and around the world. Heritage now offers an Associate of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree with the choice of 10 minors.

There are currently 6 students at Heritage that the Portland Church of Christ helps support the cost of attending the school. They are Jason Cocyuk, Zach Dayton, Chris Harris, Ron Bass, Will White, and Raymond Uoigt.

Heritage has an outstanding reputation for teaching sound gospel preachers and have an extremely high graduation rate. The Portland Church of Christ has supported more students at Heritage than any other school of preaching.
