In 1991 a meeting was held in Nashville, Tennessee to propose a pilot program to help utilize the need of equipment and medical supplies to countries around the world. The program was first organized as the Healing Hands Ministry, and then in 1994 is incorporated as Helping Hands International. Since then they have shipped to over 70 different countries in need.

Overseen by a board of directors and under the direction of Dr. Randy Steger, they accomplish these missions through the helping congregations of the churches of Christ. The Portland Church of Christ has been helping this organization for several years and is very proud of the efforts they put forth towards this program. This ministry has proven to be an excellent way to give glory to God and bring recognition to the local church.
