There are currently about 12 counties in the state of Kentucky that have no Church of Christ established there. 9 of those counties are adjacent in a line across northern Kentucky just south of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Lehman Avenue Church of Christ in Bowling Green, Kentucky has made it their priority to start planting churches in these counties. Evangelist Jerry W. Carmichael has been chosen by the elders to co-ordinate this effort. The Portland Church of Christ has taken a role in helping this effort in Grant County. In 2006 an old bingo hall was purchased and renovated to become the new Grant County Church of Christ. So in April of 2006 the congregation met for the very first time. They have an average attendance of 38 people and a weekly contribution of $350.00. Since the first meeting there has been 14 baptisms. They are also conducting in-home bible studies on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They are also currently mailing the magazine House to House, Heart to Heart every other month to over 2,000 households in the area. Their goal is to restore New Testament Christianity to its pure form according to the New Testament example and are very committed at doing this. Grant County Church of Christ For more information:
