What a wonderful Friends and Family Day we had last Sunday! With 513 present, we had a full house and a wonderful time of worship and fellowship. Let me first of all thank all of you who invited and encouraged your friends and family members to be here with us. You helped us to exceed our goal and make the day a great success. It is amazing what Christians can do when they have a goal and set their minds on reaching or exceeding it. Which gets me to thinking…
I know that we had touted Sunday as a “special day” and encouraged everyone to invite those close to them to be with us, but isn’t every Lord’s Day a special day? Many of the visitors that were here Sunday do not have a church home and do not regularly attend church at all. They were here because someone showed some excitement about the church and our worship and cared enough about them to invite them to come. They were here simply because they were asked. But why do we wait for a “special day” to invite those that we care about to be with us? Maybe we assume that they aren’t interested or that they would say “no,” but all those who were here Sunday said “yes.” If we would simply be excited about the Lord’s church and about our worship and if we would share that excitement with those around us, many of our friends, family and neighbors would accept our invitations.
Our goal for this past Sunday was a very modest 400. We showed that, not only can we reach that number but that we can exceed it. My opinion is that we should make our goal 400 or more for every Sunday; that we should strive to fill the pews and introduce those around us to Christ and His church every week. It shouldn’t take a “special day” to motivate us. Let’s make every Lord’s Day a “Friends and Family Day!”
I hope you have a wonderful day!
